A trusted person in your company

To support your employees’ mental health, we have created a trusted person service for companies.

Get in touch

As employers, we can make sure the work environment supports mental health rather than harming it. But mental health problems can also start elsewhere.

According to studies, in Estonia every 4th adult is at risk of depression, every 5th adult is at risk of generalised anxiety disorder, and about 40% of people consider their work environment harmful to their mental health. To support your employees’ mental health, we have created a trusted person service for companies.

There is no need to wait for mental health problems to appear; it is more effective to prevent them. A trusted person helps you do that.

  1. 01

    A company’s trusted person is a qualified mental health specialist who...

    • Is a neutral party in the company and is not influenced by what goes on in the system.
    • Supports employees in finding a balance between work and private life, and also with mental health concerns.
    • Helps people find their strengths at work and empowers them to realise their full potential.
  2. 02

    How does the company benefit?

    • Mental health problems, including burnout, are prevented
    • The emotional load on managers and the HR department eases
    • Sick leave and conflicts decrease.
    • Relationships between employees and communication skills improve
    • The stigma around dealing with mental health decreases.
  3. 03

    How does the employee benefit?

    • Help is within reach: you don’t have to travel anywhere or wait in long queues to find a trustworthy specialist.
    • You are supported as a whole person
    • You get support and coaching on motivation and personal development.
    • Your mental health hygiene improves, so you can take better care of yourself.
    • You also get help when facing conflict, stress, depression, anxiety and burnout.
  4. 04

    The trusted person service benefits companies most where there is:

    • a management that values mental health;
    • a caring, people-centred work culture;
    • a heavy workload and/or a time of major change.
  5. 05

    A trusted person is definitely needed if you notice in your company:

    • a growing number of people on sick leave;
    • burnout and unexpected resignations;
    • quarrels and a lack of empathy towards each other;
    • noticeable resistance to change;
    • earlier optimism giving way to a lack of willpower.
  6. 06

    How does the trusted person service work?

    A trusted person is a qualified mental health specialist who supports and advises people on how to look after their mental health at work and prevent related problems, including strengthening employees’ abilities and improving job satisfaction.

    The company and the trusted person agree on the boundaries they work within: the volume and frequency of meetings between employees and the trusted person, time and place, the form of and need for feedback, and so on.

    Employees meet the trusted person 1:1 in private, and the content of the meetings is completely confidential.

    The meetings explore the factors causing work stress and ways to reduce their impact in the work environment. Together with the trusted person, the resources and suitable solutions of the company and/or the employee are identified.

    If the trusted person or the management notices a concern of a more general nature, they decide together whether to use an additional option:

    • run support groups or workshops;
    • organise trainings;
    • help in the final rounds of recruitment interviews;
    • hold onboarding check-in conversations, etc.

Why a trusted person in the company, rather than a psychologist outside it?

01

A trusted person focuses on prevention

Health insurers and the medical system mostly deal with consequences, but it is always more effective to prevent mental health problems than to treat them.

02

Contact here and now – direct and in real life

Most life crises are directly or indirectly linked to relationships and to broken trust in those from whom care, protection and support were expected. A trusted person purposefully helps build a trustworthy relationship, restoring trust in other people that a crisis or earlier trauma has shaken, including the ability to ask for and accept help.

03

Negative attitudes and stigma hold people back from getting help

Because of stigma, people usually seek help only as a last resort, when problems have already deepened considerably and everyday coping and quality of life have suffered. Regular contact with a trusted person supports noticing one’s own needs and stepping in before problems escalate.

04

A trusted person is in touch with the company’s inner life

Because the trusted person sees the company as a whole, they can tell the management what support (trainings, workshops, additional specialists, etc.) employees need, even when the employees themselves cannot or dare not say so.
